Mealworms, Part 2!

What is the definition of behavior?  That's the question that I posed to the 1st grade students as we embarked upon our mealworm experiments.  Here are some of their answers: "Behavior can be good or bad.", "Behavior is stuff that you do.", "We're doing behavior right now!", ""Animals have behavior, do plants?".  We talked about how scientists study animal behavior so that they can learn more about the animals and how they interact with their environment.  The experiments we did were to find out the following things:  Do mealworms like to crawl on a wet or dry surface?  Can they find food on their own?  What types of food do they like?  Do they light a light or dark space? Do they like to crawl on paper or plastic?
