What a week for Español in First Grade!

Since last week, we finished going over family members, since they are studying about the Monarchs in Social Science, we read a book about butterflies and caterpillars in Spanish. We may go over - briefly - about the parts of a caterpillar in Spanish as well.

This week is was ALL ABOUT CHOCOLATE! I'm sure you have heard the children humming the song El Chocolate. Well, on Thursday we had some chocolate caliente (hot chocolate) and the students participated in the making of it. They such great helpers!

Teaching each other how to dance

The purpose of teaching them about hot chocolate is to introduce three food items: azúcar (sugar), chocolate and leche (milk). To follow up, it would be a good idea to ask them at home if they know the ingredients of chocolate caliente.
