Butterfly Symmetry - Science Room News

Today in 1st grade we learned about the concept of symmetry.  Butterflies have bilateral symmetry; they are exactly the same on each side of their body.  This can also be described as a mirror image.  So, first students drew half of a butterfly and used a mirror to view a whole, symmetrical butterfly!  Next, student invented their own butterflies by carefully drawing both symmetrical sides.  The results were creative and beautiful!
