A new warm up song that we sing at the beginning of class is called Oo a lay lay. This is a call and response song, we have a different leader for each class.
1st grade has been talking about their heros and so we decide to learn a song about heros! We are still working on learning all the words
V1.You don't have to know us
To know we are heroes
We live and we die
And we stand on our feet
We've always been here
Through the good and the bad years
We will fight for the things
That are close to our hearts
Ch.You can look in a book for your heroes
You can hide from today in the past
Your future is waiting before you
A hero is lodged in your heart
V2. We are you heroes
Although you don't see us
The wars that we fight have an everyday cost
We aren't in stained windows but we are your heroes
And we'll fight for equality
Justice and peace
Rhyme in 3 parts:
Deedle deedle dumpling, my song John
Went to bed with his stockings on
One shoe off, one shoe on
One shoe off, one shoe on
Feet (shh) (click) your sticky feet! (shh) (click)
Your stinky feet! (shh) (click) your stinky feet!
After learning the rhyme went then transfered the rhythm (or the words) onto small hand drums, large hand drums and bongos
We talked about the movements that Peter made in the snow and acted out those movements to music.
We then listened to Skaters Waltz by Emile Walteufel and skated around the room using paper plates are our shoes. When the music stopped the children had to make a frozen shape!
