First Grade has wonderful memories of our Monarch Studies this fall. In addition to the special Butterfly life cycle dance performed at the last assembly, we have a few special highlights to share including a video of our Monarch being released outdoors, our Monarch Butterfly costumes created in Art for the Halloween Parade, and a field trip to the Academy of Natural Sciences.

In mid October our Monarch hatched from its chrysalis and was finally ready to go outside!
Monarch Butterfly Costumes for Halloween Parade
First Grade created beautiful Monarch Butterfly costumes in Art using bright orange reddish hues along with black & white to represent the Monarch colors. It was so fun walking in the parade with these costumes on!
Academy of Natural Sciences Field Trip
A few weeks ago, First Grade, our teachers and several parent chaperones visited the Academy of Natural Sciences. The highlight of our trip was the exhibit,
Butterflies!, a tropical garden filled with multitudes of live butterflies from Central and South America, East Africa and Southeast Asia.
